Overcoming Disappointments
I think this is such a big topic! We all have had our share of disappointments. Maybe from a relationship, a career, or simply things just didn't go as expected. Maybe some of these things may have caused major set backs in your life, but I am here to remind you that God sees and permits everything that has happened in your life to happen for a reason. You may not still know the reason why, and that's okay because God wants us to trust Him and to know that His ways are far above ours. ( Isaiah 55:9)
I can recall so many times asking the Lord "why me", rather than asking "what now Lord."
When life goes wrong we have a bad habit of questioning God. I know that breaking any habit is a hard one, especially when your in the moment and when your heart is breaking.
I remember being disappointed and hurt so bad that God and only God had to convince that everything would be okay and He did that by pouring His unfailing love on me constantly. No one or nothing could convince me that I was going to be fine, but God. After God showed me His love I was able to move on day by day. God's love gave me strength and He made it possible for me to be able to love again, trust again, and believe that God had better plan for me. All of the confusion and heartache I had I was able to pour my heart out to God. I realized that He was my only source, even when it felt as if no one understood or even cared, God did! He didn't leave me alone in that mess I was in. I learned that God was longing for me for me to pour my heart out before Him. The bible says that God draws near to those of a broken spirit.
I'm better person because of every disappointment. God used that specific situation so that I could come closer to Him and He does this everyday in each and ever one of our lives, so don't resist the situations God brings you through. Cling to God and take much comfort in His word and remember that He is more powerful than anything you will ever face and also remember who is in control of your life, GOD! He'll help through this roller coaster called life. Everything is in the palm of His hand. Just like the hymns sung in Sunday school.
" He's got everybody here in his hands he's got everybody here in his hands
He's got everybody here in his hands he's got the whole world in his hands
He's got the whole world in his hands...
He's got you and me brother...
He's got the whole world in his hands..."
He got us even when life doesn't look to good, He has a plan!
Here are some scriptures to help overcome disappointments...
Isaiah 55:5-8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.”
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.”
Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is close to those who are of a broken heart and saves such as are crushed with sorrow for sin and are humbly and thoroughly penitent.”
