What this means is that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a NEW person. The old life is gone; a NEW life has begun ( 2 Corinthians 5:17). There is no greater feeling than knowing that the old and sinful life that you once knew has been forgotten and washed away. 1 John 1:9 says "If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness". I bet hearing this is the best news that some of you reading this have ever heard. And guess what! That's because it IS the best news!!!
That old and sinful life never has to be remembered again! That's awesome news for me! For real, before I got saved and stopped playing with God, I was in desperate need of some kind of change. My life was full of sin, darkness, and a lot of regret. BUT once I confessed my sins unto God and believed that He is a just God, I was made ANEW! It was a fresh start with in-containable joy, indescribable peace, and remarkable blessings. I'm gonna say it again! There is no GREATER feeling than having a life made ANEW!
I challenge you to try God. You have nothing to lose, but plenty to gain!!! God loves us far too much to let us stay in that old a sinful life. God desires for us to have ANEW, and fresh perspective for what really matters in life and Accepting Christ in your life and pursing him is the most important decision you will ever make. It's bigger than going to the best college or choosing the highest paying career. It's the beginning of a brand NEW life. But first and foremost let's talk about The Sinners Prayer. The Sinners Prayer is basically acknowledging that you are a sinner and that you want Christ to come into your heart. So if you want to take on the challenge, let's go for it! All you have to say are these important words from the heart. Here goes...
"Heavenly Father, have mercy on me, I'm a sinner. I believe in you and that your word is true. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God and that he died on the cross so that I may now have forgiveness for my sins and eternal life. I know that without you in my heart my life is meaningless.
I believe in my heart that you, Lord God, raised Him from the dead. Please Jesus forgive me, for every sin I have ever committed or done in my heart, please Lord Jesus forgive me and come into my heart as my personal Lord and Savior today. I need you to be my Father and my friend.
I give you my life and ask you to take full control from this moment on; I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ."
Amen.
Welcome into the family of Christ!!!! I'm sooo excited for you! OKAY... but now I need to explain that just because you accepted Christ into your life it doesn't exactly means that everything will be peachy from now on. There will be tough times ahead and that's because God wants you to grow in Him (we will talk about that in next month's post). In the meantime, here are a few encouraging bible verses that you can hold onto, because the bible says that we should hide the word in our heart that me might not sin against him (Psalm 119:11).
Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." (NASB)
Isaiah 41:10 "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." (NIV)
John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." (NIV)
